Wheel Hike Together is an adaptive hiking event where individuals with limited mobility can use an all-terrain tracked wheelchair to explore almost 3 miles of trails and scenic overlooks at Thunder Mountain Overlook Park. In place of wheels, an all-terrain tracked wheelchair operates on a track system and offers a placement option for a companion to control the chair.
Individuals who are not able to hike due to temporary or permanent physical limitations, including shortness of breath, may reserve chairs in one-hour increments and explore the trails at Thunder Mountain Overlook Park with friends and family. There is no cost to reserve a chair, however reservations must be made in advance. Regular park entry fees apply.
Participants with care needs must be accompanied by a companion. Registration is open and no residency requirements apply. Limited quantities of select supportive gear are available, however participants are encouraged to bring required care equipment, including transfer equipment. All transfers must be conducted by companions; event staff will not be available to assist.
